With its EasyNote BU45, Packard Bell penetrates the market of the ultraportables 12 ” by proposing machines whose performances ratio/price is excellent. General-purpose, very autonomous, powerful, posting a neat completion… and good market (less than 1.000 euros), the BU45-P-072 seems well to be one of the most attractive configurations of the range.

Raised glossed black body of gray money, Easynote BU45-P-072 indicates with considerable ultraportables market often avoided of a black and brilliant dress. Far from being “cheap” this discrete key gives the tone: it is a simple, functional and powerful ultraportable.

Its screen of 12 inches (1280×800 pixels) Diamond View with finished brilliance is a genuine trap with reflections. Extremely fortunately, its luminosity compensates for this defect thus limiting ocular tiredness during a long use.

The largely dimensioned keyboard has quiet keys during striking, but with the race just a little long. The surface of the touchpad to the marked “grain” is a treat to be handled and its precision does not call any reproach. The digital absence of keyboard is not crippling.

At the base of this keyboard, one finds a reader of fingerprint, Packard Bell having chosen to play the chart of biometric safety. This reader of print allows to be identified with the opening of a session of Windows. He exonerates then the user “authenticated” of very seized by passwords for the protected applications (box email, access to the confidential data bases…).

If it does not integrate the 3G, EasyNote BU45-p-072 remains a communicating ultraportable. To note: a certain lack of coherence in the fitting of the orders Wi-Fi and Bluetooth: the first profits from a dedicated button of direct access, second is drowned in the function keys of the alphanumeric keyboard!

The BU45-P-072 is as much at ease in the execution of office automation tasks as multi-media. But attention, simultaneously not to request it on several avid tasks of graphic resources. Indeed, its graphics chip shares its read-write memory and profits only from one Go of which a quarter, is 256 Mo, is dedicated to the video memory. By taking of account the needs for Windows Vista Family Edition Premium, the performances can suffer from some slownesses, in particular the recent vidéos and plays 3D.

Far from being perfect, this ultraportable Packard Bell suffers from some small defects without real incidence on the totalquality of its services. He is a pity which the screen cannot be locked in position closed and which he once puts in day before folded back. In the same way, if operation proves to be very quiet, the startup of the reader of DVD appears extremely noisy.

Delivered with two batteries, Easynote BU45-P-072 is shown relatively enduring. It makes it possible to quietly view a film of more than 2 h30 (autonomy measured with nearly 3 a.m.) with that of 6 cells, the second of 3 cells making it possible to work far from all taken sector lasting approximately 1h 20!
