The concept of mini laptop is not new, but there are many broken teeth. Last attempt to date: IPOC (Ultra Mobile PC) platform ultralight halfway between the personal and ultraportable. Too expensive, not powerful enough nor sufficiently ergonomic (without keyboard), IPOC is a product of the “niche”, although Asus is precisely one of the few manufacturers to offer a model that takes the distance (see our test of the Asus R2H).
In the category above, the ultraportable has, in turn, demonstrated its potential models with versatile and highly mobile as the Sony Vaio G11, the HP Compaq 2510p or the Thinkpad X61 Lenovo. Similar in format to the end of his predecessor Asus P525, the P750 is a true concentrate of technology and is aimed at business use. Its price is feeling: 700 euros. However, it is rare to find so many features in a compact gauge: 113 x 58 x 17.4 mm to 130 g. No sacrifice on the display (VGA screen is particularly clear and bright), nor on ergonomics. Only the Nokia N95 is currently better.
Compatible with all types of wireless networks, the P750 will remain connected to the Internet at all times via the mobile network operators (GPRS / EDGE with the recent 3G +) terminals or via WiFi public or private. The system operates under Windows Mobile 6, it benefits mobile applications provided by Microsoft Windows Live and Messenger, Mobile Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
